Winter Meltdown!

We had a great weekend with the teens at Winter Retreat in Iowa! We had a slow drive down as it was snowing, but the Lord allowed us to make it there safely! It was a great weekend to learn and grow and strengthen relationships!

Be Real – What it does not mean

We do not need any more burden-passers (Matt. 23:4), ego strokers (23:5), heavenly door-slammers (23:13), hypocrites (23:15), convert-killers (23:15), blind guides (23:16), blind fools (23:17), penny counters (23:23), spirit of the law neglecters (23:23), gnat straining camel swallowers (23:23), inwardly rotting surface cleaners (23:25), whitewashed tombs of dead people’s bones (23:27), prophet killing tomb decorators (23:29), serpents and vipers (23:33).

Pilgrim’s Progress

At the end of this past summer, one of the families in our church organized a church wide walk through of the Pilgrim’s Progress story. During the summer months, the DeLeon family had worked through the book so the kids knew the story well. On the special night, the kids brought their backpacks full of heavy “sin” and followed Pilgrims footsteps through his journey. It was a great teaching lesson for the kids! The teens also participated in the event by being the various people that Pilgrim meets along the way.

At the Gate.

The Giant Despair chases them through his dungeon.

Roger!

Several weeks ago we had a special visitor to our teen Sunday school class. Roger was born into a tribe in the Amazon Jungle of Peru, and how he ended up in the frozen Minnesota tundra is an interesting story!

Some possible Sunday School topics

“Finding Loopholes in the Bible: how to justify and rationalize doing whatever you want”

“Judging Others: seeing past the beam”

They seem to be pretty popular, and with the main goal of pleasing people and drawing crowds, we decided to try them out.
(Someone else thought of these and they have been used without permission)
