Update 10/8/07

Travel Status – We just got back Saturday night from Ica, Peru. It was a quick trip with missionaries Tim Chapman (www.timchapmanministries.com) and Mark Ring (www.needcomfort.org). We were able to go with them into schools and pass out over one thousand CDs. The CDs consist of Bible stories and the plan of salvation presented in a way that the kids will understand. Mark Ring produces and distributes them all around the spanish speaking world. We also took down several thousand more for pastors in the area to hand out in the schools in their community.
We were also able to distribute thousands of tracts. Please pray that these CDs and tracts would reach into the homes in that region and plant seeds in the hearts of the people.
Future Schedule – This coming weekend marks the beginning of our travels with Pastor Evelio Villalobos. We will be participating in three missionary retreats. The Peruvian missionaries from MEBIP (a Peruvian mission board) will be gathering in Lima, Piura, and Cusco. There will be classes, planning sessions, special services, and other activities. Crystal is preparing several ladies Bible studies and first aid classes, and Seth will be giving devotionals each morning and helping Pastor Evelio in other areas.
Prayer Requests – Missionary retreats; salvation of the Bautista family (see below for details); for those in Santiago and Ica who received the CDs and tracts
The Peru Side – One of the common beliefs here in Peru is that drinking cold beverages will cause one to become sick. It can become extremely grave if this happens during a cold day. Not only is the serving of cold drinks considered folly, but at times, downright malicious. After offering a cold pop to one of our friends, he curtly responded with the statement, “Quieres matarme!?” (Do you want to kill me!?)
We were fortunate that he did not partake, otherwise we might have had another casualty. Death by ice.

A listener/Un Oyente

As we were handing out tracts, we heard the CD playing that we handed out in the schools the day earlier. A little boy and his sister were listening to it full volume in their little house.
Cuando repartimos folletos, escuchamos el CD que repartimos en los colegios el dia pasado. Un nino y su hermana estaban escuchandolos a toda volumen en su casita.
