{"id":5255,"date":"2014-04-09T09:21:28","date_gmt":"2014-04-09T14:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scquest.org\/?p=5255"},"modified":"2014-04-09T10:07:55","modified_gmt":"2014-04-09T15:07:55","slug":"unrolling-the-scroll-seeing-the-bibles-big-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.scquest.org\/?p=5255","title":{"rendered":"Unrolling the Scroll: Seeing the Bible&#8217;s Big Story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever read through the entire Bible?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If not, is there something that intimidates you about it?<\/li>\n<li>If so, what was a difficult aspect about understanding it?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you were talking to a friend and they asked, \u201cWhat is the main point of the Bible?\u201d How would you respond?<\/p>\n<p>I have started a series at Liberty entitled &#8220;Unrolling the Scroll: Seeing the Bible&#8217;s Big Story.&#8221; It is intended to be an overview of the story of Scripture and how we ought to go about reading it.<\/p>\n<p>There are six weeks dealing with the following themes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Scripture&#8217;s Structure<\/li>\n<li>The Big Story of Scripture<\/li>\n<li>Christ the Center<\/li>\n<li>Reading Scripture in light of Christ<\/li>\n<li>Applying God&#8217;s Word<\/li>\n<li>Biblical Theology<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In this series I am aiming at people who have a general Bible knowledge but feel as though they can\u2019t piece it all together. Perhaps they have tried to read their Bible, maybe reading large portions of it, but could never answer the question, &#8220;So how does it all fit together?&#8221; This series is for a person in that situation.<\/p>\n<p>My goal is that at the end of the series the listener would have a greater love for God, a greater appreciation for Scripture, and a greater desire to share that with others. As the Psalmist said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;7 The law of the LORD is perfect,\u00a0reviving the soul;\u00a0the testimony of the LORD is sure,\u00a0making wise the simple;\u00a08 the precepts of the LORD are right,\u00a0rejoicing the heart;\u00a0the commandment of the LORD is pure,\u00a0enlightening the eyes;\u00a09 the fear of the LORD is clean,\u00a0enduring forever;\u00a0the rules of the LORD are true,\u00a0and righteous altogether.\u00a010 More to be desired are they than gold,\u00a0even much fine gold;\u00a0sweeter also than honey\u00a0and drippings of the honeycomb.11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;\u00a0in keeping them there is great reward.&#8221; (Ps 19)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever read through the entire Bible?
